New Self Pick-up Process Flow for B2B Shipments

Modified on Fri, 18 Jul at 11:24 AM

The new process is being rolled out in all markets in Q3. You will get an email notification as soon as this is relevant for you. In case you have any questions, feel free to ask your Account Manager.

In case where byrd cannot provide a service (e.g. for shipping pallets outside of the EU), you can use the B2B self pick-up option. Here’s how to ensure a smooth self pick-up process for  shipments.

Important Note: When choosing the self pick-up service, the responsibility of arranging and booking the carrier is with you. Therefore, self pick-up is currently excluded from standard outbound SLAs.

1. Choose Your Shipping Option as Self Pick-Up

  • Manual Selection: When creating a manual B2B shipment, select the self pick-up option.
  • byrd Standard Only: Ensure the byrd processing standard is selected, as this option is not available for Amazon shipments.
  • Parcel and Pallet Shipments: You can choose self pick-up for both parcel and pallet shipments.
  • Order Identification: Orders marked for self pick-up will be clearly identified in your dashboard.

When creating the self pick-up order, a banner will be displayed, stating the processing time of the warehouse for preparing the order as well as the time until you are expected to pick up the shipment.

As the shipment is marked as self pick-up, the uploading of the shipping label(s) will not be possible at the beginning, but only at the point when you get the notification that the shipment has been packaged.

2. Manually Release Self Pick-Up Orders & Select the Warehouse

  • Manual Release: Manually release self pick-up orders from your dashboard.
  • Address Validation: Address validation is skipped for self pick-up shipments (if address validation is enabled).
  • Warehouse Selection: Manually select the warehouse if you are operating from multiple warehouses.

3. Confirm Processing and Arrange Pick-Up

  • Warehouse Processing: Once the warehouse has packaged the shipment, it will be marked as "Label required" and “Action required” in your Customer Dashboard. You will get a bell notification as soon as this happens. In addition, an email notification will be sent to you every day at 8am highlighting all shipments that require an action from your side.

  • Arranging Pick-Up: When entering the shipment overview, a banner will be displayed for all shipments where a shipping label is required. Important Note: Each shipping unit has to have its own label. So if there are several boxes, several shipping labels have to be uploaded.

In order to upload the shipping labels, please go to the unit tab and click on the 3 dots next to each unit.  When you click on “Upload shipping label”, a popup window will show requesting infos on the carrier, the carrier pickup date, the carrier tracking number and the tracking link.

  • Pick up by: mandatory field, in case there won’t be any carrier and you pick up the order yourself please chose “Self pick-up”
  • Pick up date: mandatory field, please be aware that we only allow the same pick-up date for all units in a multi unit shipment
  • Tracking number & link: mandatory field UNLESS “Self pick-up” or “Other” has been chosen as carrier
  • Shipping label upload: mandatory UNLESS “Self pick-up” has been chosen as carrier

4. Understand Timing and Costs

  • Processing Time: As soon as the warehouse has printed and added the shipping labels to the shipment, the shipment will move to “Waiting for Pickup”. In general, self pick-up shipments will be ready for pick up from the warehouse within 48 hours from the processing start day if the order is released before 12:00 PM on the release day and all necessary information/documents for self-pickup have been submitted without delays. After the pick-up of the shipment, the warehouse will upload the signed pick-up confirmation. With this step, the shipment will pass to the final status “Sent”.
  • Extra Costs: If the pick-up does not happen within 72 hours after the shipment has been moved to “Waiting for Pickup”, extra costs may apply.
