# US Shipping via DHL Parcel PDDP from Germany

#### What is the DHL Parcel PDDP service from Germany?

Shipments from Germany to the United States are handled via **DHL Standard Parcel using the PDDP (Postal Delivered Duty Paid) service**.

Under this model:

- Duties and taxes are paid upfront.
- The end customer does not receive unexpected customs invoices.
- The shipment is delivered duty paid.
- The delivery experience is smoother and protects your brand reputation.

#### Which shipping services are supported?

US shipping is available **only via DHL Standard Parcel**.

It is **not available for DHL Warenpost (Economy)** shipments.

#### How does billing work?

Since duties and taxes are prepaid, the responsibility for customs charges shifts to the sender.

The cost structure includes:

**1. Shipping Cost**  
Only available with DHL Standard Parcel (not Economy).

**2. Administrative Fee**  
A flat fee of **€2.00 per shipment** (charged by DHL for the PDDP service).

**3. Customs Duties and Taxes**

- Charged by the carrier to byrd
- Forwarded to you afterward
- Typically invoiced **1–2 months after the shipment date** (due to customs processing delays)

#### What should I do as a merchant?

To avoid absorbing these additional costs yourself, it is critical to:

- Configure your checkout (e.g., Shopify Markets or similar tools)
- Display and calculate duties and taxes at the point of sale
- Review your US pricing strategy
- Adjust retail prices if necessary to maintain your margins

If duties are not properly calculated at checkout, you remain liable for these costs.
