Summary
Some customers rely on their own carriers or even pick up their shipments themselves. We want to allow the B2B customers to use the “Self pick up” option for both parcels and pallets instead: this means they send their own transport or pick it up themselves.
We also allow the warehouses to set their own self pick up hours so that the customer will know roughly when they can expect to pick up the shipment once the WH is ready with it.
The old process was time-consuming and required ticket involvement; with the new one, this can be easily handled through the dashboard.
Note: self pick up is currently excluded from SLAs.
New Shipping Option - Self Pick up
Customer can select Self pick-up as an option when creating a manual B2B shipment
Only when byrd processing standard is selected; we don’t allow self pick-up for Amazon shipments
both when creating a Parcel AND a Pallet shipment
Customer can see that this order is a self pick up
Customer must release such orders manually
We skip address validation for self pick up shipments (if AV enabled)
We disabled selecting a default warehouse, customer has to select WH manually (if customer operates from multiple warehouses)
If a WH has self pick up hours specified, we show them here
If not, we show this generic message
The customer now has to wait for the WH to process the shipment
Once WH packs fulfils the shipment, it will be visible in CD as "Ready to pick up"
Customer then has to arrange the pick up, they will then confirm with the Partner that the pick up happened by signing a pick up document, which the partner then uploads in PD and this makes the Shipment move to Sent
Shipment leaves the warehouse within 48h from the processing start day if order is released and necessary information/documents for self pickup are submitted before 12:00 of the release day. In case pick up doesn't happen within 72 hours, extra costs can apply.
