Send a return label from your dashboard
When one of your customers wants to send something back, you can now email them a return label without leaving the byrd dashboard.
Open Shipments, expand the respective shipment, and go to the Documents tab. Next to the return label you will find a tag icon. Pick the items coming back and the reason for each, check the email address, and confirm. byrd opens the return, generates a new label and emails it straight to your customer.

This feature is activated per account. If you do not see the tag icon described below, contact your account manager.
This works on expired labels as well as valid ones, so you can help a customer who is past the carrier's label window.

When the tag appears
A shipment only ever shows one tag, and only on its newest return label.
| The return label | A return already open? | What you see |
|---|---|---|
| Still valid | No | Download icon and tag icon |
| Still valid | Yes | Download icon only |
| Expired | No | Tag icon only |
| Expired | Yes | Tag icon, which re-sends the label |
Why labels expire
We pre-generate a return label for every shipment while it is being packed, so one is always in the box. The carrier only guarantees it for a limited window. With DHL Germany that is 14 days, which is usually shorter than your own returns period.
The return is logged with items and reasons, so the warehouse knows what to expect before the parcel arrives.
What it costs
Generating a label this way costs the same as generating one through the returns portal, and the pop-up tells you before anything is created.
