Dangerous Goods (DG) are products that pose risks to health, safety, property, or the environment during transportation. These products require an MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) and a corresponding UN Number.
Follow these steps to create and manage Dangerous Goods (DG) products in your byrd dashboard.
1. Access the Inventory Section & Create a New Product
To start creating a Dangerous Goods product, first access the Inventory section in your byrd dashboard:
- Log into your byrd dashboard.
- Navigate to the "Inventory" section.
- Go to "Products" tab.
- Then, click on the "New Product" button at the top right corner.
2. Fill in Details & Mark Product as Dangerous Good
Fill in the necessary fields to create a new product:
- Product Name: Enter a name to identify the product.
- SKU: Ensure the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) matches the SKU in your web shop.
- Select the option "Product is a dangerous good."
3. Add UN Number
- Enter the UN Number based on the information in the MSDS document.
- Specify the quantity of the dangerous good (in grams, liters, etc.) as indicated in the MSDS document.
4. Save the New Product
- After filling in all the necessary details, click "Save" to create the new DG product.
5. Product Overview
- The product page will display a DG icon and the UN Number in the Product details section.
- Shipments with DG products will also be flagged with the same DG symbol on the shipments page.

For shipping DG products, additional configurations may be required:
- DG of type Limited Quantities (LQ) can only be shipped within the following countries using specific carriers:
